USEFUL INFORMATION

Venue
The conference site is at Universitetsplatsen in the very centre of Lund, Sweden. Most activities take place in AF-borgen (Student Union Building), while lectures of the parallel sessions are held also in the University Main Building, and Palaestra. A map of the conference area can be found on the back cover of the book of poster abstracts.

Welcome Reception
The welcome reception is held in AF-borgen from 15:00 on Thursday 26 June. A light buffet and drinks are served until 20:00.

Registration/Conference Information desk
The registration desk is located on the ground floor of AF-borgen. A notice board for messages is next to the registration desk.

Plenary Lectures
All plenary lectures will be held in Stora Salen in AF-borgen on the first floor of the building.

Parallel Sessions
The parallel sessions are held in Stora Salen of AF-borgen, the Aula of the University Main Building, and Palaestra.

Poster Session
The poster session is a key part of the conference and therefore scheduled as a single poster session operating between 11:10 and 14:00 every full day of the conference. The poster session is located in AF-borgen in five different halls (follow the signs).
Posters should be mounted before the poster session starts on Friday 27 June at 11:10 and be removed on Tuesday 1 July.

Poster boards have a usable area of 85 cm (horizontal) by 120 cm (vertical) and will take A0 posters in portrait format. Poster must fit within these limits.
Posters should be designed with large fonts and graphics so that they can be read easily from a distance. Fixing materials will be available at the Conference.

As poster sessions are excellent occasions for discussion, we ask the presenters to be present at their posters during the poster session/lunch break at least on the day corresponding to poster number modulo 4 with Friday 27 June – Monday 30 June representing the results 1, 2, 3, and 0, respectively. For example, for a poster with number 25=6*4+1 (25/4=6.25=6+1/4) presence is required on the first day, Friday 27 June, while poster 28=7*4+0 (28/4=7) prompts presence on Monday 30 June.

Instructions to Speakers
(a) Check your presentation and upload the talk no later than the day before the session. Presentations can be checked and uploaded at the conference desk during registration and on full conference days at 13:00-14:00 and 17:40-18:30.
(b) Arrive at the lecture hall 10 minutes before the session and make yourself known to the chairperson.
(c) Parallel sessions mean that timing must be strict. Chairpersons have been asked to rigidly follow the published schedule.
(d) All lecture slots include 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
(e) The PCs used for uploading and presentation are equipped with Windows Vista, Microsoft Office 2007, Adobe Reader 8.1.2, and QuickTime Player 7.4.5.

Publications/Conference Proceedings
The proceedings of the LMC 7 conference will be published as a special issue of Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter. More information about the journal can be found on the web at http://www.iop.org/Journals/cm.

We would like to ask all speakers to turn in a manuscript, so that the special issue reflects the full character of the meeting. Note that only the oral presentations will be published in the proceedings. The deadline for submission of manuscript for the proceedings is July 31th, 2008.

Further instructions see proceedings

Accompanying Persons
We have no special program for accompanying persons. However, if you have a partner accompanying you, we encourage him/her to come to the registration desk so that we can issue a nametag. This will provide entrance to the museums listed below on the same terms as regular conference participants. This will also give access to the conference dinner, but we ask you to actively confirm that you want to take part in the dinner. Similarly the nametag will allow you to move freely in the conference area and enjoy coffee breaks. For information of tourist activities we refer to the tourist office in town, located opposite the cathedral. For sightseeing outside Lund, Malmö is a 20 minutes train ride away and it only takes 60 minutes on the train to reach central Copenhagen.

Extracurricular Activities
Special arrangements have been made with some of the museums in close proximity to the conference site:

  • Kulturen, an open-air museum with various exhibitions on cultural history. It was voted best museum in Sweden 2006. Access to the park, and some buildings and exhibitions there, is free to the public, but exhibitions in the main building are not. Show your nametag to receive a free sticker that will grant you access to all areas. Opening hours: Every day 11-17.
  • Lund University Historical Museum, a museum that has recently been given a face-lift and houses a variety of collections, not the least examples of the many iron-age objects excavated in nearby Uppåkra. The conference badge will grant you free admission and a discount price of SEK 30 for the guide book, which is available in Swedish or English. Opening hours: Mon closed, Tue-Sat 11-16, Sun 12-16.
  • The Museum of Sketches – Archive of Public Art, an unusual art museum that focuses on the ideas and sketches leading up to the final art work. Admission is free after showing the conference nametag at the reception. Opening hours: Mon closed, Tue, Thu-Sun 12-17, Wed 12-21.

Tourist Office
The Lund Tourist Office (046-355040, turistbyran@lund.se) can provide information and sign you up for tours of local attractions and excursions. It is located on Kyrkogatan 11 opposite the entrance of the cathedral. The opening hours are Mon–Fri 10:00-19:00, Sat 10:00–15:00, Sun 11:00–15:00.

Public Transport
The major hubs for passenger transport in Lund are the railway station and Botulfsplatsen, the city bus station. Lund has an extensive network of city buses, which are easily identified by their green colour. Regional public transport is provided by Skånetrafiken which operates both buses and trains. Skånetrafiken's buses are yellow and Pågatågen, Skånetrafiken's commuter trains, are purple. The direct trains to Denmark, Öresundstågen, are grey. Detailed travel information and timetables are found at http://www.skanetrafiken.skane.se/, which contains a link to an English version of the site.
Tickets for regional trains should be bought from vending machines at the stations or at Skånetrafiken's kundcenter (customer centre). Bus tickets are sold by the bus driver. Note that the public transport is integrated in the Öresund region which means that on the city bus in Lund you can buy a ticket all the way to Copenhagen.
For Malmö Airport (Sturup) there is an airport bus
(Flygbussarna, http://www.flygbussarna.se, with several language options) to/from Lund railway station.

Trains for Copenhagen Airport
Direct trains to Copenhagen airport (via Malmö) leave Lund every 20 minutes weekdays 06.17-22.57, less often other times (exact time table  can be found at http://www.skanetrafiken.skane.se/). The train journey takes about 60 minutes. Direct trains to Copenhagen airport from Malmö leave every 20 minutes between 05.00-23.00 and every hour between 23.00 and 05.00. There are frequent train services between Lund and Malmö.

Taxi
The taxi market is completely deregulated in Sweden so please check the price before you enter the taxi. A trip within Lund city limits should cost a maximum of about SEK 100. Lund University has an agreement with the two major taxi companies Taxi Skåne (046-330330) and Taxikurir (046-700 000). This means that you get a small discount on the fare if you say you are travelling as a guest of Lund University.
